Basics, principles and first steps towards process optimisation

‘Lean is a term that is easy to memorise, but a complicated concept that is not immediately obvious’
(Takahiro Fujimoto, Lean-Autor)

At this point, we would like to start a small series of articles dealing with the basics of lean management. In this first article, we will shed light on what exactly lean management means.

⚙️ Lean management is about eliminating all types of waste (e.g. overproduction, waiting times and unnecessary transport).

⚙️ One of the main objectives is to increase the value of the product or service for your customers and improve delivery performance.

⚙️ The first step is usually to analyse processes and workflows in detail.

⚙️ The next step is to optimise processes and workflows. This can or should even be done iteratively. In this way, the ideal process is approached step by step.

⚙️ Effectively designed operating equipment is also of fundamental importance. This must be tailored to the specific needs of company procedures, employees and processes. Always with the goal of minimising waste in mind.

⚙️ Tools and materials that can be found and processed intuitively reduce the error rate and enable a consistently high output in production.

🎯 The result: productivity and quality improve noticeably.
